The ISS celebrates 10 years in space this week, and the Big Picture has a photo spread covering the 10th anniversary. Some of the photos are pretty spectacular.
It tops last week’s excellent spread on Dubai, which included a really high res and up to date image of the soon to be tallest structure in the world, the Burj Dubai.

hold your horses friends, saudi just announced the development of a tower much taller/higher. something about the middle east’s obsession with the biggest this and the taller that. interesting from an outsider’s perspective isn’t it. this is precisely the reason why the height of the burj dubai has not been disclosed. no one knows how tall the “final product” will be.
the latest update on the burj as of jan 18th is that nakheel (government owned developer) has laid off a ton and has postponed the finish of the tower for three months. expect this delay to stretch as dubai is in quite a bit of financial trouble. time will tell what happens to this rapidly expanding city (at least in the recent past it was).
